Remember Our Fallen

This weekend is the Memorial Day Weekend here is the United States.  This Monday, May 31st, 2010 is Memorial Day.  This is the the day set aside to remember this nations fallen.  It is not a weekend about camping, BBQ's, racing, or other festivities.  It is a day set aside to specifically remember the true heroes of our country.  All those who have served in the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force and paid the ultimate sacrifice.  All the Firefighters, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medical Services personnel who selflessly served their communities daily and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Monday flags from coast-to-coast, from north to south will be flown at half-staff from dawn till noon.  Grave stones, of veterans and Emergency Services, in cemeteries across the country will be decorated with wreaths and flags.  Ceremonies will be held at various war memories.  Many will wake up to the commands of Ready, Aim, Fire followed by the sounds of rifle fire, not once but 3 times.  Then the mournful melody of Taps will sound.  Later in the day, at 3 PM, a moment of remembrance will be held.

Many have left for their weekend of festivities.  Heading to campgrounds, family, Indianapolis to watch the Indy 500 or Charlotte to watch the Coca-Cola 600.  They'll be headed home on Monday.  Despite all this, take the time to reflect upon the sacrifice paid by so many of your fellow countryman that has allowed you to live a life of relative luxury and safety.

Fixing ourselves as individuals is what fixes the world

I just finished reading Education Must Precede Activism By Stephen Palmer, posted over at A Thomas Jefferson Eduction.  In the essay he makes several excellent points.  Such as, activism can not be sustained by action alone.  Education is required to sustain activism.  You must have a deeper understanding of our world, and what drives it.  Simply to say this is broke and then spew anger and venom, does not fix what is broken.  To fix any thing that is broken, one must have a deep understanding of how it was intended and designed to work from the beginning.  In other words you must educate yourself.

He makes it clear that you can not fix the woes of the world without first fixing yourself.  Turning inward and performing a thorough examination of yourself, your beliefs, and your shortcomings leads to wisdom.  It is wisdom that is needed to fix the woes of this nation and our world.  This is the path some of the greatest leaders of the world chose to follow.  A path that Jesus Christ and Gandhi followed, an approach that worked very well for both.  Food for thought.

Representative Tom McClintock's (R-CA) Response To Mexican President Felipe Caldron

For those that don't follow national politics, the President of Mexico addressed Congress yesterday and criticized America and Arizona's new Immigration law.  Which, isn't an immigration law, by the way.  Upon completion of President Calderon's speech, the Democrats give a standing ovation.

Now I could rant for hours over this anti-American display by those who have sworn oaths to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.  Instead watch this video of the response to President Calderon by Representative McClintock.

So, you are offended by the American Flag

I am feed up with the PC attitudes on display in this nation.  Fed up with the agenda that is turning this nation away from God.  Fed up with a political agenda that is taking this great nation down a path of destruction from within.  Fed up with entitlement programs that have grown so massive, they cannot be sustained by the American taxpayers and have put this nation on a path to bankruptcy.  Fed up with a government that has grown so large, that it no longer serves the people.  Fed up with elected officials who pay lip service to their oath of office.  You know, this one:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
Today 200 Mexican students walked out of class and demonstrated because 5 students, who wore t-shirts displaying the American flag, were not suspended from school.   Then firefighters in Miami refuse to get on a fire truck, because it has an American flag on the truck and they are offended by the presence of the flag.  In Berkley firefighters were instructed to remove the American flag from their trucks as it might offend protesters.  Political Correctness is out of control in this nation.  This is the United States of America, if you are offended by the American Flag being displayed within the territorial boundaries of the United States of America, GET OUT.

Thousands of Americans have died to protect the freedoms of individuals across the globe; fought to establish a nation where people could be free of oppression and tyranny.  The blood shed by these men and women, of many nationalities and skin color, is of no value to those who find the American flag, the flag of the very nation that protects them, offensive.  I am one of millions of American fighting men and women who have fought for those very freedoms.  However, YOU do not get to tell ME that I cannot fly, wear, or display MY flag, in MY country.  You don’t like it here, LEAVE.

To my Brothers and Sisters in Arms, those who have served before me, served with me, and serve after me; God Bless you.  To all the malcontents, who find the American flag offensive; get out of MY nation and go back to the nation you left to come here.  You do not get to turn this nation into the cesspool you fled.
